The GMan's Power Hour Plugin

This is for all you college kids out there.

Description:
For those of you who don't know, a Power Hour is a drinking game where each player takes a shot of beer each time a new song starts to play. A new song should start to play every 60 seconds (so that's 60 shots in an hour). Since most songs are longer than 60 seconds most people create a "Power Hour Mix" which is basically a tape or a CD that has 60 tracks made up of the most entertaining 60 seconds of each song.

As you can imagine, this process is very time consuming. To eliminate the tedious process of creating a Power Hour Mix, I created this "Plugin" for Winamp. The plugin cycles through all the songs in your playlist, playing 60 seconds of each. You have the option of letting the plugin begin each song at the beginning, at a specific time in the song, or at a random position within a range you specify. Also, the plugin keeps track of the time the Power Hour was started, how many songs are left, how many songs have been completed, and the amount of time left in the current song.

Instructions:
Install the plugin to your Winamp plugin folder. The path to the plugin folder should look something like this "C:\Program Files\Winamp\Plugins" but it may vary depending on where you originally installed Winamp. If you used Winamp's default installation path this should work fine for you. Once the plugin is installed you must restart Winamp if it was previously running.

In Winamp, click on the upper left corner of the Winamp window to bring up a context menu. Select "Options" then choose "Preferences". This will bring up the preferences menu. On the left side, go down to "Plugins" and select the "General Purpose" category. On the right side you should see "The GMan's Power Hour Plugin v1.1". Select it and either double-click it or click the "Configure selected plugin-in" button.

Now you can Enable or Disable the plugin. If you check "Enable at Winamp Startup" the plugin will automatically start when Winamp starts (so you don't have to go through this process again).

The GMan's Power Hour Plugin

This plugin reads songs from Winamp's current playlist. For those of you who do not use playlists and instead make use of Winamp's "Media Library" you should read this before moving on.

In order to use this plugin properly simply select any songs that you would like to have possibly play during your Power Hour and place them within Winamp's current playlist. When you are done with this, simply start the plugin and it will cycle through any songs that appear in the playlist.

If you would like all songs that are currently listed in Winamp's Media Library window to be added to the playlist you can simply start the play of any song in the Media Library window and Winamp will automatically REPLACE the current playlist with ALL the songs currently listed in the Media Library window.

If all of this is too much of a hassle for you, just create a new playlist to use for your Power Hour and save it. Before you begin your Power Hour, load it into Winamp.

Enjoy.
